Memoirs;

When you are sweet sixteen

& i whatever they shall call "old",

will you then remember when you were twelve,

you knew i was sixteen but yet didn't care.

When you finish finally graduate

and realise i have gone abroad,

Will you cry and wish i was back here,

reliving outr meetings and the joyful times we had?

When you walk in church a bride radiant

and i sit in pews and watch with tears,

will you then in your radiance recall

you laughing, i laughing, we having fun?

When you are a proud mother

and I also, a father,

Will our children get along,

just like what we used to do so often?

& when yours eldest is sweet sixteen,

would she have the fun we used to have.

Will you still remember in tender smiles,

my love & our shared childhood.

& when your daughter has her own baby

and you play with grandchild too,

Will you remember how your grandmother used to smile at us

as we jumped on sofas and ate crispy nougets?

& finally when, you hear about my death,

would you come and see me one last time as i lie- dead,

Will you finally remember when you were 12

and i was 16 and we fell in love that day?
